As WSD emergency crews survey and watched radars closely, they ultimately decided to declare a snow day, which will be an AMI day for Feb. 12.
This will utilize the fourth AMI day. Just as of this year, the WSD decided to use AMI learning days. This new change gives students accesses to learn from home while also staying safe from the weather. With this recent weather using another AMI day, it gives schools only one more AMI day until we transfer to “Snow Days 8-11,” which would be a traditional snow day; no make up days are required for these days. However, each day used will result in a required school day after May. 23.
This snowfall total is expected to be anywhere from 3-5 inches of snowfall for the Wentzville area. Reports are stating that this storm won’t be nearly as bad as Winter storm Blair and Cora.
With that being said, this expected storm is still impactful enoughough to cause dangerous road conditions.
The main reason for this closure is due to the dangerous road conditions across the district. This makes for a hazardous situation for busses and other commuters to schools across the district.
Students across districts have expected this snow day for awhile, as radars have been indicating hazardous condition.
Many parents have mixed feelings about this recent snow day announcement. Some are thankful for this closure, while others want their kids in school.
With all these mixed emotions going around, what do you think? Should we of had school?
