The crowd is dead silent. They watch in anticipation waiting to see the swing. They hold their breaths, and the shot goes in, the spectators applaud. The golfer is elated, he has just won the PGA All-Star Championship award alongside his team, at the age of 10.
Golf has been a significant part of Will Nolan’s (12) life. Near the age of 6, Nolan remembers his dad watching golf, and thinking “that’s cool, I want to do that.” His dad immediately hopped on board, and bought him a plastic children’s set of clubs from Walmart. From that moment on, Nolan played golf. He joined a junior all-star team at the age of 9, and competed with them in tournaments across Missouri. While competing on the team, he won the PGA All-Star Championship.
Nolan, however, wasn’t convinced that golf was his calling. Around the age of 11, he quit golf and moved towards baseball, not making his way back until the past year. He plans to try out for the high school’s golf team this spring, and hopefully continue on with it in college, saying, “my goal is to at least make it to college level, and the hope is to go beyond, but we will see.”
