The best era of music has always been debated, some say it was with Elvis Presley and The Beatles through the 50’s and 60’s. Whereas the youth believe hip-hop and rap make modern music the best. However, the most popular decades of music include the 70s, 80s, and 90s with the explosion of pop, starting with Michael Jackson and Queen.
The students here at Liberty have many strong opinions, one of which is Kayla Kroehnke (12).
“I think modern music for the most part is wonderful. However, I have a strong love for older music, such as 50’s/60’s music,” Kroehnke said. “The music then was so beautiful. Each song was crafted with care and singers’ voices back then were just different in the most amazing way. People nowadays don’t have the same vocal sounds as people did then. Now, it just sounds the same.”
Contrary to Kroehnke, Penelope Weston (10) believes that modern music is the best.
“I enjoy listening to modern music. I think today’s music is the best because it’s been influenced by all the greats and I’m constantly discovering new artists,” Weston said.
While all music is great, there can only be one decade with the best music. Whatever you might think it is, is up to you. Music will only continue to evolve and grow, either in a way you may feel is in a positive direction or in a negative direction.
