Coaches are the one thing holding a team together. A bad coach breaks the game, but a good coach is what makes the game. Liberty is lucky enough to have 10 amazing coaches leading the varsity football team to success.
Karson Prescott (10) is a middle linebacker for the varsity football team.
“My coaches have taught me discipline and mental toughness,” Prescott said. He stated that it’s on the coaches to call the right plays. Coaches have big impacts on each individual player’s performance, and for Prescott, they show him what to do and what he’s doing wrong. Ben Adelsberger, one of varsity’s assistant coaches, is the coach that has helped Prescott the most.
Alberto Malave (11) is an outside linebacker for Liberty’s varsity football team.
“My coaches have been outstanding role models, teaching me hardwork and dedication and that you can get through anything in life,” Malave said. Malave explains how the coaches uplift the teams energy when down. The coaches support and they help prepare the team for the next plays. “They can tell when I’m having an off game and give me encouragement and they challenge me to prove them wrong and that makes me rise up to the challenge.” Malave said. Ben Adelsberger, one of the assistant coaches has helped Malave the most by pushing him to try his best and challenges him to rise up.
Andrew Dudley (10) is a safety for the varsity football team. He said that his coaches have helped him become a better man and the values of sports. “The coaches teach us just how to play as a team instead of playing for ourselves,” Dudley said. Kenneth Nowling, one of varsity’s assistants coaches, has helped Dudley the most “He’s mainly for a position, he teaches in more of a friendly way than most coaches,” Dudley said.
Mateo Espinosa (10) is a running back and safety for the varsity football team. Espinosa stated that his coaches have been supportive and always make sure they know what they’re doing so the team is ready for the games.
“They make sure we’re always focused with no outside distractions, always focus on the game and make sure we know our assignments so we know what to do when we get in,” Espinosa said, adding that his coaches help him by preparing him in practice and making sure he knows what he’s doing. Ryan McMillan, the head coach for Liberty’s varsity football team is someone he looks up to because he’s more strict then the other coaches and makes sure people aren’t goofing off.
