Many teams are starting to wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the boys varsity soccer team included, as they were wearing pink on Tuesday going against Rockwood Summit.
The varsity team is keeping their winning streak strong with taking six games in a row, including the game vs. Rockwood Summit, 3-1.
“This is going to be a good game but I think we will win,” said Coach Luedecke before the game.
The Eagles began the match with the ball with good passes getting all the way up the field.
Hieu Do (12) ran up the sidelines with the ball making a cross to Corey Lynch (12) with him heading the ball in scoring the team’s first goal to take a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles started to let their guard down after this goal and Summit tied the match 1-1 shortly after from a corner kick.
With the score even, the Eagles knew this would be a difficult game to win.
For the rest of the half the Eagles pressed the entire time and got a penalty in the box. Lynch took the penalty and got our second goal of the game.
“‘Let’s go boys, don’t let them score immediately again,'” goalkeeper Austin Kelly (12) said after they scored.
Near the end of the first half, James Naphakorn (11) got elbowed in the face, causing his mouth to bleed and he couldn’t play the rest of the first half but went back in for the second.
During the second half, Gabe Kahrhoff (12) got a yellow card as well as two of the Summit players.
Brendan Lukunka (12) was able to score another goal making the score 3-1.
The boys are ready for the game vs Holt on Thursday, which is also the last game of the regular season and senior night.
