“What are you currently listening to?” is a trend we all know, and maybe have prepared for. So to capture this trend in this story, we give a fun insight of what our students have built their playlist of.
Nicholas Poeling (10)
Listens to a mixture of rock, and post-hardcore genres. Poeling usually listens to Green Day and Pierce the Veil. “I’d say it’s more me, but it could also be trendy depending on who you’re asking,” Poeling said about his taste in music. Back in his freshman year, he listened to some of the most popular indie artists like the Wallows. Poeling says it’s very different from what he listens to now. Poeling is also a guitarist, so the music he listens to intrigues him based on guitar riffs; he’ll find songs to see what he can learn on his guitar.
Lewis Small (11)
Listens to Rap and R&B. “It’s probably all more trendy, but I listen to it because I like it,” Small said about his music taste. Small listens to a lot of Don Toliver, and Frank Ocean, and he listens to Rod Wave the least because he doesn’t completely like him. He believes what he listens to knows is very different from what he listed two a few years ago.
Madilyn Headley (10)
Headley listens to Deftones most of the time. “They just have good music, and I like the beats,” Headley said about Deftones, and their music. Out of the music he likes, she listens to indie music the least. Headly claims what she listed two now, and a few years ago are completely different;as a few years ago she listened to all the most popular pop artists, and now she listens to music that doesn’t appeal to the average person.
Alexis Hudson (11)
Hudson has kept most of her music on the same playlist since around 2020, so the music she listens to least is the first added songs to her library. Hudson has been listening to a lot of PARTYNEXTDOOR lately. “I haven’t heard a bad song from them, and the songs are always just perfect,” Hudson claims about their music. She believes her music taste has definitely matured over the years, a lot of the songs being about romantic relationships. In contrast to Hudson’s favorite artist, her favorite song is “Champagne Coast” by Blood Orange mainly just because of what the song means to her.
