After consistent snowfall fell on Monday afternoon, the Wentzville School District announced that all schools would be closed Tuesday, Dec. 2.
In an email sent to parents, students and teachers, the district said schools will be closed “due to additional snowfall this evening and the potential for refreeze on the roads overnight.”
With this being the first snow day used, it will be a regular snow day, no AMI, and students and staff will not have to make up a day at the end of the year.
After Tuesday, there are still six snow days left without school having to be made up, with five of those being AMI day.
This doesn’t come as too much of a shock to everyone, after Monday’s chaos. Originally, Monday was just supposed to be a late start across the district. However, snow arrived to the area earlier than expected around 10:30 a.m., and it was announced on Instagram at 11:14 a.m. by the district that all schools would be released two hours and 15 minutes early due to the weather.
Although this early release was helpful in allowing everyone to get home safely, it didn’t solve all of the problems. At 1:48 p.m. a message was sent out that buses were not running for elementary schools, due to the dangerous road conditions, which left students inside the buildings. However, shortly after, at 2:58 p.m. a message from WSD transportation stated that buses will resume at 3 p.m.
