The first dual of the season for both the boys and girls wrestling teams was on Dec. 3 vs. Holt. This was the first time the boys have wrestled this season and for the girls, the third. The boys won 58-24 and the girls won 42-36 in team points.
Although the JV players don’t count towards team points, they also did pretty well with around half winning their matches.
Wrecking crew, our little league program for 1st- 8th grade, also wrestled vs Holt, as they are combined for Wentzville.
One match that the crowd screamed loud for was Clark Carpenter’s (12) match. His opponent shot and scored a takedown and Carpenter was on his back almost getting pinned but Carpenter was able to come out on top and get a reversal. Then he tried to spladle his opponent but didn’t get the pin but got nearfall points. The period ended and his opponent chose neutral. Carpenter got the takedown and pinned his opponent.
Kathy Thomas (10) was also a highlight match as she used to wrestle for Holt last year and was able to beat her old teammate win a pin in the first period.
This was a great start to the season as the varsity boys and girls go to Bolivar today Dec. 5, and the JV boys split and go to Fort Zumwalt West and Francis Howell tomorrow Dec. 6.
