The Biathlon is a very unique event, it combines Cross Country skiing and shooting. There are many disciplines within the Biathlon but the basis is the same. The athletes race in a 2-4 km track with a shooting station where athletes have to shoot 2-4 times depending on the distance. There are two ways to shoot once the athletes reach the shooting station, probe and standing. If athletes miss the target when shooting in Sprint, Pursuit, Mass Start, and Relays athletes will have to skate a 150 meter loop, then continue the race. In individual events if athletes miss a shot there will be a one minute penalty added to the total time of the race. France had the most medals with 13, then Norway with 11, and Sweden in third with three.
