D.A.R.E graduates pledge to live a drug-free life on Dec. 18.

The fifth grade class at Crossroads Elementary came together at the Library auditorium on Dec. 14 to celebrate finishing the D.A.R.E program. The students learned how to say no to drugs and alcohol and not give in to peer pressure.

The graduation started off with singing “I Will D.A.R.E.” towards family and friends. It was directed by Caylee McGlasson, one of the music teachers at Crossroads.

Welcome speeches were given by both principal Dr. Damian Fay and Officer Dave Goewart congratulating the students on their hard work and the skills they have acquired.

All of the students wrote essays about the future and living drug-free lives. One student from each class was selected to read their personal essay at the graduation. This year Rori Kranz, Carolina Hunt, Michaela Black, and Emma Craven were selected.

Each of the students received medals to celebrate their achievement and out of the five Michaela Black was chosen to read her essay to the O’Fallon board.

The students went up in class in order to get their diplomas. The teachers gave a speech about their class and called the students one by one.

When the night concluded a final speech was given and the students went off to celebrate with family and friends about the achievement.
