As May 20, 2025 comes to an end, the senior class sets out for the annual bridge walk. The event consists of the seniors signing their crowns, returning their Chromebooks, heading to the gym for a short assembly, then walk across the bridge, and finally, meeting with family by the football fields.
The signing of the crown is when the seniors take their golden crown, which has been a symbol at senior events, such as senior sunrise and sunset. They then write down a piece of advice for the junior class.
“In Nest Time, we all wrote down a piece of advice for the incoming seniors. Then after we leave for the bridge walk, and the juniors take our seats, they get a piece of advice for the upcoming year,” Braden Altrup (12) said.
Before the assembly could begin, all of the seniors met in the cafeteria to return their chromebooks that they’ve had since middle school. Afterwards, they enter the gym to the entire student body cheering them on for the last time.
When the assembly began, the traditional handoff to the next Lady Liberty was announced by Mrs. Rosner. Julia Miller (11) was named as the new Lady Liberty. This is a title passed down from a graduating senior, to an incoming one. Danielle Corgan graduated in 2017 and was the first ever Lady Liberty.
“I was so passionate about the yearbook, and cheer, and all kinds of things with school spirit, so I gained the nickname Lady Liberty. Then when I graduated, I asked if I could pass it down to a junior so they could be Lady Liberty their senior year,” Corgan said.
After the announcement, principal Dr. Edgar Nelson gave a speech as they all filed into their seats. Around 2:05 p.m., they started down the 500 hallway towards the infamous bridge. Teachers cheered, hugged, and celebrated the students they’ve been with for the last four years. Finally, after they cross the bridge, they are met with their friends and family who came to visit them.
This year was faced with both challenges and hardships, but the outcome was all worth it. Thank you seniors, for being the true role models.
