A recent surge in locker room thefts has prompted administrators to take action, urging students to secure their belongings and stay vigilant. Several students have reported missing items, raising concerns about the safety and security of personal property within the schools athletic facilities.
In an email sent to students and parents, head principal Edgar Nelson urged students to use a combination lock when securing their belongings in the locker room.
“Unfortunately, we have had a number of thefts from our school locker rooms this year, despite the best efforts of our Physical Education (P.E.) staff,” Nelson said.
In response, our principals are reinforcing its existing policy regarding locker usage.
“Book bags and personal items left unsecured – even inside a closed locker room – are vulnerable to theft,” warned a recent safety alert issued by the school. Students are now encouraged to use combination locks on their lockers during P.E. classes and after-school activities. Those unable to provide their own lock are strongly prompted to talk to their teachers or principal for assistance.
The administration hopes that these measures will deter future thefts and restore a sense of security to the locker rooms. Students are reminded that vigilance and personal responsibility are key to preventing these incidents.
