The last day of school will officially be Friday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 19, for seniors. Members of the school board met at the Wentzville School District Administration building to vote on the last day of school on April 23.
“Due to unused snow days, we’re proposing that the last day of school be May 22,” said superintendent Brian Bishop at the board meeting. A chorus “aye’s” from the board members followed, and the decision was made in less than a minute. You can watch the meeting here.
Seven snow days were built into the schedule, however, only three were used: Dec. 2, Jan. 26 and Jan. 27. This means that no makeup days were required and the last day of school could be moved up.
Some seniors have wondered whether three days off actually matters. Though, it may be that most are happy to be out of school earlier, no matter by how many days.
“I feel like Tuesday’s perfect,” Liz Orimaye (12) said. “Get out in the middle of the week, then… chill.”
