Ever wonder about the colorful handmade signs hanging around school before football games? Or the ones hanging in the cafeteria letting students know about spirit week, homecoming, or other special events? What about the people who make them?
Most students at Liberty have heard of and may even participate or be a part of student council, also known as StuCo. They work really hard to help make fun things happen for our school and also help decorate it. While everyone does their part in StuCo, not everything is a group project.
Aiden Franco (11) joined StuCo this year and immediately, everyone could see his artistic talents like drawing and painting. They could tell Franco was the perfect person to help them with their needs for football game banners, homecoming spirit week posters, and more painting projects.
However, StuCo members aren’t the only ones who noticed his talent for painting and drawing.
Almost everyone who’s close to Franco knows he’s been an artist for a while. Lesley Caamano-Briones (11) has known Franco since seventh grade and describes him as “funny, thoughtful, and kind,” but there’s more than that when it comes to his traits.
“He’s very creative with his drawings and his art skills and he thinks outside the box,” Caamano-Briones said. “I can tell which banners he helps make because there’s something about his art that stands out.”
Franco says he likes making banners for the school because it’s a fun thing to do that also benefits the school.
“My favorite banner is probably my Hawaiian football banner even though the football was a little small,” Franco said.
The school needs fun and colors to get people excited for football games, dance, and more. When students notice the detail and effort put into the works of art hanging around the school, hopefully they think of the person behind them, Aiden Franco.
