When he was in high school, Ryan White played an important part of DECA, helping make the club feel more like a family every day. Always active and taking initiative in the community, White gave so much during his time here—so it’s only right that the community now gives back to him.

On April 24, 2024, White tragically lost his life in a car accident. He had graduated from Liberty a year before and was active in the business classes and DECA during high school.
When current seniors Jillian Fisher and Ashlyn Stafford were given the chance to honor White’s legacy, they didn’t hesitate. They started a bake sale during lunch as well as having plans to raise funds at basketball games as well.
“I heard about him a lot,” Fisher said. “I heard he was a nice kid, and that he and his family were the sweetest. They were always donating to DECA. So I wanted to give back to them.”

While was a dedicated student and an even better person, volunteering at local fire departments, the Humane Society, and the Red Cross. While the loss was devastating, it also inspired positive action—like the fundraiser Fisher and Stafford organized in his memory.
“We decided we wanted to do something that connected back to our DECA family as a whole,” Stafford said. “Something heartfelt that would raise awareness about a fellow DECA family member.”
Through the fundraiser, Fisher and Stafford hope not only to honor White’s memory but also to remind others of the importance of compassion and community involvement. White’s impact continues to live on in the hearts of DECA members, proving that even after tragedy, kindness can spark something lasting.
If you want to help the cause, stop by the Perch during lunch Friday, Nov. 21.
