Haunted attractions remain a popular form of entertainment during the Halloween season, drawing in thrill-seekers. The Cobb Factory, for instance, has recently became a popular place amongst teens.
“I heard about the Cobb Factory from coworkers, I didn’t prepare myself at all for the haunted house,” Gabby Davis (11) said.
The popular haunted house is well known for its realistic decorations and dedicated scare actors that heighten the fear factor.
“It was very scary and all the decorations looked so real,” Davis said.
For many people, the success of a great haunted house lies in its immersible qualities. The realistic costumes on the scare actors along with the element of the unknown presented in a haunted house created a terrifying atmosphere.
“What makes a haunted house good is when the scare actors outfits are realistic and when they can touch you, it makes it scarier,” Ally Pugh (11) said.
For some, the appeal for scary things such has haunted houses comes from aspiration to have a job similar to that of scare actors.
“I like going to haunted houses because I love scary things and I would like to be a scare actor myself,” Pugh said.
Social media also plays a crucial role in the haunted house phenomenon. It serves has a powerful tool for promotion.
“I think social media is a big part of haunted houses because it lets people hear and find out about it and where it is located, it is good for promotion,” Pugh said.
This helps fuel the popularity of these attractions, making them a seasonal staple for those seeking a thrilling experience.
