Every year during track and field, Liberty High School always hosts their own Freshman Invitational where all of the underclassmen are excited to run with people around their skill level.
It’s not just the freshman, but other teammates -sophomores and above- who are ready, to see who is the best up and coming freshmen, but it is also it’s a track meet. It’s extremely fun watching your own teammates run and cheering them on.

“The freshmen rarely get a chance to run against other freshmen, only because a lot of the time it’s just JV meets, so they’re running against all grades and the freshman invitational is a great chance to highlight the freshmen and give them their own day,” Coach Glavin said.
Another reason why the freshman meet is so engaging is because our freshmen are really good. All of them do their part and their role on the team.
“There are a couple of pretty good freshman meets in the state. Ours is probably one of the best ones, it’s a great meet,” Coach Glavin said.
And it definitely showed: All of the freshmen did really well. Some of them were quite confident too.
“We did really well,” Coach Glavin said. “We had a lot of freshman records broken, some school records broken and our girls won by a lot. I’m not sure we have ever won the boys or girls division at the freshman meet, and our girls won so that’s pretty cool.”
All of the freshmen ran very well and impressed everyone on the team with their skill and experience and the athletes hope to have a great athletic career in front of them.
