The Eagles flied high and blanked Fort Zumwalt South 42-0 at the homecoming game Friday. The defense stepped up for this game, showing that despite being sometimes overlooked to the offense, they are still very much vital in winning the game.
The defense only allowed a combined 120 yards of rushing and passing and shutdown the Bulldogs’ attack.
“We play great tonight, we trusted in our game plan and what our coaches had in mind for us,” Karson Prescott (10) said.
The first quarter was already the finish line. The Eagles were excited and ready for the homecoming festivities to begin. Judging off of the volume of the opponent’s student section, they weren’t as excited as the home crowd. In the student section, Liberty had spirit and showed vibrancy to support the Eagles.
The student section wasn’t the only exceptional performance in this game. The Eagles drove for excellence and shot a bullseye at the homecoming game. They stood out in their gameplay and improved even more since defeating Fort Zumwalt East in their homecoming game.

The first touchdown of the night was provided by Jalen Mack (10), making over a 50-yard dash to the opposing team’s end zone. The student section erupted into cheers and showed their school spirit. Another event in the first quarter was Logan Schuster’s (12) tackles. He made key blocks so the Bulldogs couldn’t get a fourth down. Schuster led the team with nine tackles, four sacks and even had a fumble recovery.
In the second quarter, Mack rushed for another touchdown, making the score 14-0. Another touchdown was scored with 7:00 minutes on the clock, however it was revoked when later communicated that a flag was on the impressive play.
In the third quarter, Mack scored another impressive touchdown, this time making a 77-yard punt return touchdown this time, and shocking both crowds. In the end our crowd was the one cheering after. The last touchdown of the quarter was made by Sullivan Thornton (12) and improved the score 35-0.
Halftime brought us our homecoming king and queen winners for 2025, who are seniors Chandler Hirtz and Myleigh Turnipseed.
In the final quarter, the Eagles scored one last touchdown with only 1:45 seconds left in the fourth quarter. After the game Eagles celebrate and students start winding down, knowing that homecoming.
Even after the win was secured, the student body that attended never got quiet. The student section stayed loud and excited for the approaching Hoco. The Eagles’ can always rely on their peers to cheer them on no matter what.
Overall, the 2025 homecoming game was a reflection of excellence and how not just the Eagles, but the whole student body, tries to achieve everyday.
