As the spring sports start their seasons, the varsity girls soccer team shows their skills at their Jamboree. This event took place on Tuesday, March, 17 and they went against Hannibal and St. Charles. During the Jamboree they only played 35 minute games. The Eagles won both of the games they played, 1-0 vs Hannibal, and 2-0 vs St. Charles. The Eagles had a break between the games, where Hannibal and St. Charles went against each other and tied 1-1.
“We played pretty good,” Madelynn Moyers (10) said.
The first game Sophie Means (11) scored first about half way through the game. A short while later Reece Hoffman (11) was also able to score against Hannibal securing the win for their team.
The second game was a little bit harder than the first as St. Charles had a very tough team, but that was no match for Means as she was able to score again. The game ended 1-0 with the Eagles dominating the field.
This gave the girls a big boost of confidence going into the season. The Eagles are hoping to make it past the first round of districts this year as well.
“It’s going to be a great season,” Annie Swift (12) said.
This year, the Eagles have a young team with only three seniors on it, which is going to be a challenge that they have to overcome. They still need to work on a lot of things but the Eagles are ready for the start of their season.
