As someone with big goals and a lot of passion for sports, it’s important to Van Kozlowski to stay motivated as a person and as an athlete. For him, that means looking to his family and friends.
“I would say my parents are my biggest motivators, the way they raised me and taught me,” Kozlowski said. “They know my goals and keep pushing me everyday. They’re my number one supporters.”
The optimistic athlete credits his parents with teaching him many life lessons: knowing what is right and wrong, how to be himself, to have confidence, and to be humble, lessons he says have stuck with him all his life.
Kozlowski has known for a long time that he wanted to pursue sports, having played both basketball and football since he was very young. He plans on going to college for football, and a lot of schools have already reached out with offers.
“To me, success is defined by getting just 1% better everyday. I don’t believe in perfection, but instead taking slow steps forward. Everything else takes care of it,” Kozlowski said.
