Homecoming. A time we all get excited for: the shopping, making plans with friends, but most importantly being asked or not. From best friends, to partners, being asked is the most exciting part of Homecoming to some.
Sydney Shuster (9) was asked by Jacob Craig (9) to attend homecoming together. “I was very excited, I was kind of surprised, but I had thought that he was going to propose that day,” Schuster said. The sign that Craig had made for Shuster said “I hope you have enough energy to go to Hoco with me.” Craig had also given Shuster two cherry slush Alanis and a bouquet of red roses. “I was kind of in shock,” Schuster said. With that, Shuster of course said yes.
Zoe Hoggatt (10) was asked by Santino Ginestra (10) to attend homecoming together. Ginestra had made a sign with Hoggatt’s favorite song lyrics from the song Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. “I don’t want the world to see me but I want them to see us at Hoco.” Hoggatt had explained how it was personalized. “It was very me-coded, which I felt very appreciated for,” Hoggatt said. Genestra also gave Hoggatt mac and cheese bites from The Post, a personal favorite of Hoggatt’s, so with that Hoggatt did say yes.

Tyler Smith (12) asked Kylie Richardson (12) to accompany him to Homecoming. Smith said he scrolled through Pinterest and ultimately decided to make a sign that said, “Be a smartie, and take this dum dum to hoco.” Along with the sign he made her a bouquet of Smarties and Dum-Dums. Which he stated was definitely something he knew she’d like. So yes, Richardson did say yes.
Mason Pace (10) asked Audrey Shoemake (9) to her first homecoming. The sign Pace made for Shoemake read, “Can I shoot my shot? HOCO?” His sign was based on the game pigeon 8 ball, due to them being game pigeon addicts. “I had some help from my friends but ultimately I came up with it,” Pace said. Shoemake had no idea she was going to be asked and was very happy when she walked outside to see him standing there with flowers, lego flowers, and a sign made just for her.

Savannah Hunt (9) asked Sienna Ronald (9) to homecoming with a sign based on EPIC the musical that said, “Waiting, waiting for you… To go to Hoco with me?” “She went to grab the sign in the middle of a horror movie so I screamed,” Ronald explained. Ultimately, she liked the sign a lot since it was very personal to those two. So with that, Ronald said yes.
