Sport: JV Hockey

Grade: 9th

Star Stats: 2 goals, 1 assist

Why did you start this sport: My older brother played.

Pre-game ritual?: I don’t have one.

Best memory ever from the sport: Winning the Blue Note Cup.

Proudest moment in the sport: Winning our state championship.

Biggest motivation: My coach.

Are you planning to do this sport in the future/college: Yes, I’m looking towards ASU (Arizona State University)

How do you stay focused when you’re under pressure: I try to stay calm. 

What advice would you give to someone starting this sport: Keep working hard.

What is the most rewarding part about being an athlete in your sport: Learning teamwork and persistence.

What’s so different about you being an athlete compared to other athletes?: I have better hockey IQ.

Your donation will support the student journalists of Liberty High School. For the 2025-26 school year, we are trying to purchase additional cameras and video equipment for our growing media program. We also plan to attend the national journalism conference in Orlando in November 2026.

Stella Nguyen is a freshman and this is her first year of Publications at Liberty. She was in Student Council for her last two years of middle school and is CPR certified. She plays travel flag football and wants to work in sports media and managing. You might see her capturing athletes on the field, interviewing and getting media from them. She is looking forward to these next four years of her life in and out of school.
