Districts are the biggest games of the year for all sports, you win or you go home. For the boys varsity soccer team, they started off good in the first round beating North Point 8-0, but they fell short this past Wednesday and lost against St. Dominic 2-0 in the second round.
The Eagles have won districts the past two years along with beating Dominic these past two years. Everyone was devastated with this loss along with the feeling of this being the last game but they believe they had a great run this year.
“This is a great group of guys and we worked well together this year,” Coach Luedecke said.
This game was whiteout themed and StuCo helped promote the game because usually not a lot of people go to the soccer games.
We started good with passes and defending but after one of the Liberty players kicked it out Dominic was able to get a corner kick and score.
In the second half, the Eagles held their ground the whole time, but in the last two minutes of the game, Dominic was able to score.
Despite the outcome, the student section was hype the entire time and cheered for the Eagles even after the game.
The team ended the year with a final record of 12-6-1.
Some highlight games are when the Eagles mercied Warrenton on Oct. 7, St. Charles on Oct. 16, Holt on Oct. 23, and North Point in districts on Nov. 1. As well as beating an undefeated team at the time, Rock Bridge on Sept. 16 with a final score of 4-1.
The captains this year were Cannon Nord (12) and Jackson Rocco (12) leading the team in practices and in games.
Overall, the team had a solid season even with unfortunate loss they built connections with each other and had a memorable year.
