On Friday night, the Warrenton Warriors faced the Liberty Eagles in a matchup that was never truly a contest. The Eagles dominated from the opening drive, silencing any doubt with a 35–0 shutout victory.
The tone of the night was set early when quarterback Sullivan Thornton (12) connected with Caleb Orcutt (11) for the first touchdown just five minutes into the first quarter. From there, the Eagles’ offense continued to fire on all cylinders, while their defense smothered Warrenton’s attempts to move the ball. By halftime, the game already felt out of reach.
“As of now, our team is at a high that can’t be stopped. I wouldn’t change anything. Our team is beautiful,” said senior Jack Lounsbery (12), reflecting on the Eagles’ steady improvement throughout the season. “The energy is unmatched, both from us and from the student section. Our fans always show up, and that makes a difference.”

The student section, packed in red, white, and blue for the USA-themed night, mirrored the energy of the players on the field. Chants thundered through the stands as the Eagles extended their lead, creating an atmosphere that kept the Warriors on their heels.
Sullivan Thornton (12) emphasized the team’s identity after the win: “We’re tough and we’re strong. We don’t complain. We just play our game. That’s what it means to be an Eagle.”
The defense held firm all night, forcing turnovers and keeping Warrenton scoreless in every quarter. Meanwhile, the offense spread the ball across multiple playmakers, showcasing both depth and discipline.
Maddoxx Jones (12) summed it up simply: “We were winning from the beginning. It’s never a close game when we play like this.”
With a perfect combination of execution on the field, intensity from the sidelines, and unwavering support from the stands, the Eagles proved once again why they remain undefeated. The 35–0 victory wasn’t just a win — it was a statement that this squad is ready for whatever challenge comes next.
The Eagles improved to 3-0 and travel to face North Point on Sept. 19. The Grizzlies are also 3-0.
