Rebuilding and moving on is a mindset and an experience that can be the most difficult time a person can go through. Not only is it stressful, but when emotional and academic factors are incorporated it can be near impossible. However, after Eva Pekny had to rebuild her life, she was able to thrive. Her friends and family greatly supported her during this time, but the most important help she had was herself.
In her sophomore year Pekny was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome. This caused her to miss a month of school, meaning she had to rebuild her grades, and when she did there were only A’s and B’s. She made what would have been a dead end for most into a highway to peace, freedom, and happiness.
“I think coming close to death, it just shows how much you want to live, how much you want to get through things and be happy. You don’t let small things take you down no matter what,” Pekny said.
Despite everything, Pekny is managing to live her best life, where she lets nothing bring her down.
